Juneteenth - June 19th
Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States,
specifically on June 19, 1965,when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas,
to announce that enlaved people were free.
It is celebrated annually on June 19th and is now a federal holiday.
Seneca Fall Anniversary - July 19th - 20
The Seneca Falls Convention, held in Seneca Falls, New York in July 1848,
was the first women's rights convention in the United States.
Women's Equality Day - August 26th
On August 26, 1920, after three generations of an unrelenting, brilliant, courageous, political campaign, women in the United States won the right to vote. To honor and commemorate this historic event, Bella Abzug introduced a Congressional Resolution to ensure that this date would be commemorated with the designation of Women's Equality Day, which is celebrated on August 26th each year.
