Women's Park of Yellow Springs is a serene community gathering space and garden in Yellow Springs, Ohio, dedicated to honoring women and celebrating nature. It is a unique park where visitors can reflect and connect with the history and contributions of local women through personalized, commemorative tiles.
The park is a long, narrow strip of land located next to the Little Miami Scenic Trail and across the street from Antioch College. : It features a curving path, native wildflowers, benches for reflection, and various mosaics and a large metal flower sculpture. A sign encourages people to walk their bikes, emphasizing the park's tranquil nature.
The primary purpose of the park is to recognize and celebrate the diverse contributions of women in the community. The tiles, which are the park's central feature, include names, sentiments, or phrases honoring individual women, groups, or even "Every Woman".
The park was the brainchild of local women's rights activist Gene Trolander, who, along with her friends and fellow feminists, successfully petitioned the Village Council for a plot of land. The park was officially dedicated in July 1998, a few months before Trolander's death.
Celebrating Women: The Women's Park of Yellow Springs a hardcover book was published to document the history behind the park's establishment and provide brief essays about the women.
